Dear Fellow Leather Connoiseur,
This is a public service announcement.
The Indian market, especially the shoe segment is flooded with "genuine leather" goods. These goods (and pairs of shoes) are considerably cheap and can look very attractive, especially in photographs.
Please note that genuine leather is NOT real leather. It is NOT pure leather. In fact, it is made from pasting together leftover fragments of products made from high quality pure leathers (like Full-Grain and Top-Grain leathers).
An article on Business Insider explains...
Genuine leather doesn't just mean that the product is made of real leather (which it is), but it also means it is the lowest quality of all products made out of real leather. Basically, you should read it as: "At least it's genuine leather."
Genuine leather generally doesn't last as long or look as nice as higher-quality leather. You'll typically find it in belts from mall stores, shoes from lower-priced department stores, and bags or other goods in the lower price range.
Goods marked as genuine leather will be several layers of low-quality leather bonded together with glue and then painted to look uniform. It's made from what is left over when the other, higher grades are stripped away for pricier projects.
This grade of leather is acceptable if you're just buying something cheaply and don't care too much about its quality. It won't last very long, so you probably shouldn't buy something made from it that you would use every day.

Pure leather goods are often referred to as full-grain leather or top-grain leather items.
Full-grain leather is the absolutely highest quality of leather there is. It is often the most expensive, and can have visible wrinkles or blemishes (which come from injuries or scars that the corresponding animal might have had during its lifetime).
Top-grain leather is the next highest quality. This is where the top-most layer of the animal's hide is sanded/processed to give it a great appeal. Top-grain leather goods are somewhat cheaper than full-grain leather goods. And while still extremely durable, top-grain leather isn't as durable as full-grain. However, due to the extra processing top-grain leather undergoes, it can often be far more impressive/stylistic looking than full-grain leather items.
If you want the best value for your money, do NOT ever buy genuine leather goods. Insist on buying top-grain or full-grain leather goods only.

So go ahead, and extend the comfort of real, pure leather to your feet. Because you deserve only the purest of all leathers. You deserve nothing less than Cobblestone purity.
These are a pair of Cobblestone's two-tone tan oxfords. Made our of pure full-grain leather. As visible on the pair above, the right shoe has slight wrinkling. This wrinkling does not damage the look of the product. Instead, it enhances the aesthetic appeal. It becomes instantly obvious to any connoisseur of fine leathers that these shoes are made out of full-grain leather.
Top-Grain leather shoes often end up looking perfect. More perfect than full-grain leather shoes, in fact. Despite being slightly cheaper, and slightly less durable than full-grain leather shoes, top-grain leather shoes are a great choice. Because they look perfect. But are significantly more durable and stronger than any "genuine leather" pairs available on any market.
